Another GG&G Easter Craft: Felt Flower (mums) Pins

We had alot of felt left over after making the felt flowers for the fascinators so we started experimenting with different flower ideas. If you have a vast storehouse of felt like GG&G we suggest you makes some of these…

Felt Flower (Mums) Pins

 What you will need:

  • Felt
  • Fast Grab Tacky Glue
  • Martha Stewart Glittering Glue
  • Fine light green glitter
  • Scissors
  • Pin backs
  • Rubber bands
  • Cardboard – I used cereal boxes

Flowers:

  1. Cut felt into 1 ½ inch wide strips
  2. Fold the strips in half and glue only the edge closed.
  3. Let dry.
  4. Cut slits into the folded part of the felt. Do not cut through the glued edge. You can creative variations in the flowers by cutting the slits on an angle or in wider and narrower widths.
  5. Roll your flower up gluing it as you roll.
  6. Secure the rolled up base with a rubber band.
  7. Let dry.

Leaves:

  1. Cut leaf shapes out of green felt.
  2. Use a thin brush or toothpick to draw veins on leaves in glittering glue.
  3. Dip in fine green glitter. Shake off excess.
  4. Let dry.

Pin base:

  1. Cut the cardboard into the shape you want the pin base to be.
  2. Cover one side of the cardboard in Fast Grab Tacky Glue and place it glue side down on the felt.
  3. Cover the other side and fold the excess felt over on top, covering the cardboard. Press down on the felt firmly so there are no bubbles.
  4. Let dry.
  5. Cut out the base staying as close to the cardboard shape as possible.
  6. Glue pin back to the back of the base.
  7. Let dry.

Finishing the pin:

  1. Arrange the flowers and leaves on the base before using glue so you can move things around and get the design you desire.
  2. Glue the flowers and leaves in place.
  3. Let dry

These pins can be worn on blazers, hats, and more!
